Peshastin Pinnacles State Park

visited 20 March 2022

To visit this park is to be reminded of forces of nature that are larger than we are.

This park offers moderate hikes, panoramic views of its area west of Wenatchee, and for the adventurous souls (not including me) some good rock climbing.

A dirt hiking trail winds up a grassy hillside toward a jagged, weathered sandstone rock formation topped with a pointed pinnacle and scattered pine trees, all beneath a deep blue sky.
Not sure who got eaten here, but this is a blunt reminder of the cycle of life.

A rugged, weathered rock outcrop of pale sandstone rises against a bright blue sky dotted with wispy clouds, with a jagged spire jutting up at its peak. A grassy hillside scattered with dry brush and small pine trees slopes down toward a sandy trail in the foreground.
A small, wind-shaped pine tree growing atop a jagged sandstone rock formation, seen from below against a deep purple-blue sky with wisps of white cloud.
A jagged, finger-like rock spire rises in the foreground with a small windblown pine growing from its lower ledge, set against snow-dusted mountains, forested slopes, and a partly cloudy sky.
A wide panoramic view over a valley of leafless orchards and farmland, with a river winding through the distance and rolling brown hills leading up to snow-dusted mountains under a bright blue sky filled with white clouds. A jagged rock outcrop juts up on the left edge of the frame.
A rugged sandstone rock formation with a lone windswept pine tree clinging to its top edge, set against a deep blue sky scattered with white clouds, with distant tan hills visible in the lower right.
A tall, blade-like sandstone slab juts up from a dry, grassy hillside under a heavy overcast sky, with narrow dirt trails winding across the slope, scattered evergreens and shrubs, and a distant vineyard at lower left.
A jagged sandstone rock formation rising from a grassy, sparsely vegetated hillside, with a thin trail winding up its right flank. In the distance are snow-dusted mountains, rows of vineyard or orchard plantings on a lower slope, and a heavy overcast sky.
A rugged sandstone rock formation with weathered, sculpted spires rises against a dramatic sky of gray and white clouds, with a small pine tree clinging to a ledge on the cliff’s right side.
Large weathered granite boulders in the foreground of a rocky ridge, with snow-dusted mountains and forested slopes beyond under a heavy overcast gray sky.
Weathered gray sandstone rock formations with pitted, sculpted surfaces rise in the foreground against a deep blue sky streaked with white clouds, a small pine growing at the upper left, and low arid hills fading into the distance at right.
A tall, weathered sandstone rock formation with vertical fissures and pitted surfaces rising above a grassy hillside dotted with dry brush, set against a dramatic sky of heavy gray and blue clouds, with snow-capped mountains and a green valley visible in the distance.
A weathered sandstone rock face with a shadowy hollow or small cave opening, its smooth beige and gray surface streaked with lichen. In the foreground, bare reddish branches of a shrub bear pale spring buds just beginning to open.
