Bridgeport State Park

visited 19 March 2022

Bridgeport State Park is located on Rufus Woods Lake, formed by Chief Joseph Dam. It offers a view of central Washington’s high desert landscape.

On the early spring day that I visited, the park was occupied only by a few intrepid campers.

A wide river or reservoir with rippling blue water in the foreground, bordered by treeless, tawny basalt hills and cliffs under a dramatic sky of broken white clouds and blue patches.
A wide river flowing between arid, treeless hills under a partly cloudy sky, with silvery-green sagebrush lining the near shore in the foreground.
A curving pebble-and-sand beach along a wide river at Bridgeport State Park, with a swim area marked by a line of yellow buoys, grassy lawns, evergreen and bare trees, and a picnic shelter on the right, beneath a bright blue sky filled with dramatic white clouds. Arid, grassy hills rise across the water in the distance.
A grassy park lawn dotted with tall evergreen conifers and bare deciduous trees under a deep blue sky with wispy clouds, a black metal park grill on a post in the foreground, and a white camper van parked among the trees in the background.
Two Canada geese stand on a grassy lawn beside a wide river, framed by leafless trees, with a large sagebrush-covered hillside and terraced orchard rows rising under a moody, overcast sky.
Two motorboats moored at floating docks on a broad river beneath a dramatic sky of layered clouds, with rolling brown hills and basalt cliffs rising across the far shore.
