Obstruction Pass State Park offers access to one of the few public beaches on Orcas Island and some explanations for how nature has reclaimed the landscape after the last glacial age retreated.

Perhaps the more important thing is that there’s a roughly half-mile hike from the parking lot to a beach and camping area on the south edge of Orcas Island. Both the hiking trail and the beach offer a delightful natural setting.
